Profile

Todd Owens, a highly regarded Mecklenburg County District Court Judge, joined the Family Law Group when he left the bench to become a member of the firm. As a jurist, Todd presided honorably in criminal, civil, child support enforcement and, most prominently, in family court. Todd now represents clients in all aspects of family law litigation, while continuing to lend his judicial experience and temperament to outside counsel as a private mediator and arbitrator. While Todd’s significant courtroom experience is effectively used in litigation, Todd strives to resolve domestic matters with minimal court proceedings.  He is also a Certified Family Financial Mediator.

Prior to his years on the bench, Todd primarily practiced criminal law and regularly appeared in cases at all levels of state court as well as federal district court. He continues to be available for representation in criminal law matters on a limited basis. Todd volunteers his time by presiding over a Charlott-Mecklenburg School System Truancy Intervention Court.  During his tenure on the bench, Todd expanded the reach of that program by bringing Truancy Intervention Court to two previously underserved schools.
